Did Paperboy really look this bad?
For those of you who don't remember Paperboy let me give you some history. Paperboy was first released in the arcades in 1984 by Atari Games. You take on the roles of the paperboy and you must deliver newspapers along a suburban street on your bike while avoiding hazards such as dogs, cars and bruisers.
Unfortunately for me I'm old enough to remember this game from the arcade (I was 11) and I remember it with a particular hate because of the very annoying control system. Literally you either went forward, diagonal left or diagonal right. It's fair to say it was in no way precised, especially as when you slowed down (but never stopped) to avoid a hazard you would then turn and you bike then bashes straight into the thing you were trying to avoid.
When I played this in the arcade I do remember that the graphics were like a Volvo - very boxy, but at the same time very colorful and detailed. However the ones on this Xbox Live Arcade version seem to have lost that sparkle - or maybe it my eyesight going - who know.
Here are the details for the Xbox Live Arcade version of Paperboy:-
Paper boy has been enhanced with new content especially designed for Xbox Live Arcade. Including a new multiplayer mode which will allow gamers to deliver the paper cooperatively together on the same console, or over Xbox Live (this is a great idea - we here at XboxDaze which more games would add in coop play!!). Apparently Paperboy has also had the graphics enhanced (although I still believe the original looks better!!).
Paperboy will be available for 400 Microsoft Points and available everywhere except South Korea.
